Clubhouse Progress

The new clubhouse for MWLTC is taking shape. Since works began late October 2021 the weather has been kind and Steve Gunn Builders are not only making an excellent job but on schedule too. The clubhouse structure is now built and watertight with the roof now fully tiled. The club, tucked away down Holme Road , has never had an electric supply to the grounds so it is very exciting seeing the cable being laid ready for connection late January. Structural work is ongoing with windows and doors arriving soon. Internal walls are going up and once the electric is in situ the first fix can take place.
Jill Atkinson from the club commented on the progress to date :
‘As a club we can now fully envisage not only the physical clubhouse but the numerous opportunities the facility will bring both to the club members and the public in Market Weighton and the surrounding villages. It is a real moral boost after the winter COVID restrictions looking forward to the spring and enjoying the new clubhouse for the 2022 season.
The project which is being partly funded by a £55130.00 grant from FCC Communities Foundation will provide a fully kitted out clubhouse .
Richard Smith, FCC Communities Foundation senior grant manager, says: “It’s always nice to see something we have funded start to take shape. We’re delighted to be supporting such a worthwhile project and look forward to it benefitting people/youngsters/children/families/OAPs/community groups across Market Weighton.”
The club are hoping everything will be up and running for spring 2022.
