Match Reports:

Men’s B (written by Matt Taylor, captain):

With Rudston struggling to find a team of 6 we started the evening 3-0 up. A last minute work load dump on Graeme put him out for the evening and Aled preferred an evening in Brighton to Thursday night tennis.

With the first teams game been called off early Laurance stepped in to fill Graemes place with Jack & John stepping in to help and allow everyone to play 3 matches.

Ian was very happy to be paired with the best player in York and took the first game comfortably 8-5. Ken and Cameron starter very slowly and quickly found themselves 6-0 down the started to play better winning the next 3 but could not get back in to the game losing the next 2 game. Myself and Laurance opted for a warm up game first to build a bit of confidence, this did not exactly go to play losing 8-0 to Jack & John with his killer underarm slice surve.

Only needing one more game Ian and the best player in York movednin to the next match and quickly racked up the games winning 8-5 again and securing the win for the evening. Myself and Laurence started to play a little better (not much) we won’t mention my volleying or Lawrence’s double faults. We ended up losing 7-5 in a tie brake! Cam and Ken moved on to keep warm with Jack & John who quickly brushed them aside 8-2

Moving on to the last games Myself and Laurence somehow managed to get worse losing 8-5, Ken and Cameron put up a better performance but came up short losing 8-5. Tom had arrived after playing in York and didn’t want Jack & John to have it all there way so Ian gladly sat out while Tom joined the best player in York to put an end to John & Jack’s winning evening.

5-4 win on the evening making it 3 for the season next week we welcome Hackness & Scarborough C team at home.
